The Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA) has recently issued a decision according to which public catering establishments and commercial entities, such as bars, restaurants, hotels, casinos, supermarkets, museums and airports, are obligated to pay fees for broadcasting music for ambient purposes at their premises. The decision entered into force on October 7, 2011.

For example, five-star hotels have to pay the fee of approximately EUR 1.2 (USD 1.7) per room per month.
