Consultation Meetings on Albanian Draft IP Strategy

On February 11-12, 2010, the Albanian government held internal consultation meetings in order to further improve its draft Strategy on Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights.

The meetings were organized in the Ministry of European Integration in cooperation with the European Patent Office (EPO), which contracted various experts to review the draft prepared by the inter-institutional working group.

Under the Interim Agreement on Trade and Trade-Related Matters, which entered into force in Albania in December 2006, Albania has four years to reach a level of IP protection similar to that existing in the European Union and develop effective enforcement of such rights.
