PETOŠEVIĆ Co-Organizes INTA Roundtable in Bulgaria
On October 28, 2011, the INTA Roundtable on The Enforcement of Council Regulation (EC) No 1383/2003 — An Important Tool for Brand Protection, took place in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Iana Roueva of PETOŠEVIĆ and Elena Miller of Bojinov & Bojinov, both members of the INTA Anti-Counterfeiting Committee, organized the roundtable.
Over 40 people attended the roundtable, including the Bulgarian Customs Agency, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Sofia City Court, the Supreme Court of Cassation and a number of Bulgarian law firms.
The roundtable covered various topics, such as the need for implementation of the simplified procedure in Bulgaria, the enforcement problems customs officials face, the consequences of Interpretative Ruling No.1/2008 of the Supreme Court of Cassation that legalized parallel import, and the strategies used by brand owners in the fight against counterfeiting.
The speakers were Kina Chuturkova, partner and attorney at law at Borislav Boyanov & Co, Gergana Cheshmedjieva, a representative of the Bulgarian Customs Agency, Judge Emilia Vassileva, member of the Supreme Court of Cassation, and Zoran Strsoglavec, the brand protection manager at Nike & Converse for the Balkan region.
