The Czech customs and police authorities have recently discovered and seized nearly 6,000 counterfeit luxury wrist watches with an estimated value of almost EUR 13 million (USD 14.5 million) at the Sapa marketplace in Prague.

The watches bore well-known marks Breitling, Omega, Gucci, Bench, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Montblanc and Hublot.

According to the Prague customs authority spokeswoman Ivana Kurkova, the customs officials discovered the fake watches under the counter of a market stall on which the vendors were offering legal goods.

The Sapa marketplace is also known as ‘Little Hanoi’ as it is run mainly by Prague’s Vietnamese community members.
