On March 18, 2015, during the control of a shipment arriving by mail from China, the Serbian customs officials discovered over 100,000 fake labels suspected of infringing intellectual property rights of three popular sportswear brands.

The shipment was addressed to an individual from the capital city of Belgrade. In addition to fake labels, the package included five metal molds for making labels, which the recipient probably intended to use on counterfeit sneakers.

Moreover, on April 20, the Serbian customs officials at the Gradina border crossing point with Bulgaria discovered and seized more than 10,000 pieces of counterfeit apparel and footwear. The fake goods originated in Turkey and were intended for the Bosnian market.

The goods included 5,000 sneakers, 2,680 T-shirts, 950 men’s shorts and children’s clothing and bedding sets, bearing the marks of Converse All Star, Adidas, Armani Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo, Burberry and Hello Kitty, among others.
