Romanian Customs Seize EUR 2M Worth of Counterfeits

In the time period August 19 – September 10, the Romanian customs officials seized various goods believed to be counterfeit, the total value of which is approximately EUR 1.9 million (USD 2.6 million).

The seized goods include:

• 27,500 balloons bearing the Disney mark;
• 27,000 pairs of shoes bearing the Puma mark;
• 6,696 children’s shoes bearing the Daisy & Coro mark;
• 4,200 eau de toilette bottles bearing 1 Million and Emporio Armani marks;
• 4,200 electric fans bearing the Kaiserhoff mark;
• 3,456 dolls bearing the Snow White (Disney) mark;
• 2,000 illustrated books for children bearing the Disney mark; and
• 1,400 dolls bearing the Monster High mark;
• 490 plastic toy trains bearing the Thomas & Friends mark;
• 282 plastic laptops bearing the Hannah Montana mark; and
• Unidentified numbers of sportswear items bearing the Monster High mark, trousers bearing the Gucci mark, rings for children bearing the Smiley mark, plastic robots bearing the Transformers mark and shoes bearing the Dolce&Gabbana mark.

The seizures were made at the port of Constanta, eastern Romania. The goods originated in China and were intended for the Romanian and Polish markets.
