PETOŠEVIĆ PEOPLE: Q&A with Branislav Krnetić

On his seventeenth anniversary in the firm, we talked to Senior Associate Branislav Krnetić based in our Belgrade office. Branislav’s practice focuses on complex and contentious trademark matters such as investigating and identifying infringements and infringers, negotiating settlement agreements and litigating disputes. We asked Branislav about his work, his pastimes, his favorite food, and much more.

  1. How did you start your career in IP?

    I joined PETOŠEVIĆ shortly after graduating from law school. I applied to different places and was quickly called in for an interview at PETOŠEVIĆ – the rest is history.

  2. What is the most challenging aspect of your work?

    Finding different ways of protecting clients’ rights.

  3. What do you most enjoy doing at work?

    I love teamwork and analyzing regulations and case law.

  4. What would you be working in, if you weren’t working in IP?

    I would probably be a chef or a historian.

  5. What was the first job you’ve ever had?

    My first job was at McDonald’s!

  6. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?

    I enjoy cooking and taking long walks.

  7. What book did you read last?

    “Solunci govore” (The Thessalonians Speak) by Antonije Đurić. It tells the story of Serbian soldiers who took part in the Salonica front during World War I.

  8. What is your favorite song/music at the moment?

    I often listen to relaxing music, mostly instrumental, and usually while I’m driving.

  9. What is your favorite dish of all time?

    My favorite food is seafood!

  10. If you could meet anyone in the world, from the past or present, who would it be and why?

    Nikola Tesla, the famous scientist who was way ahead of his time.

  11. What was your favorite subject in school and why?

    History – “Historia magistra vitae est”.

  12. What did you want to be when growing up?

    An army pilot.

  13. Tell us three things most people don’t know about you.

    I like to cook, I am a fan of the sports club Partizan from Belgrade, and I have two dogs.

  14. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

    I would like to learn carpentry!

  15. What is your biggest frustration about the world around you?

    The lack of equal opportunity for everyone to realize their potential.

  16. What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?

    It doesn’t matter if you fall, what matters is how fast you get up.

  17. What do you wish you could have told yourself at age 13?

    Be patient, do what you love, always be who you are.

  18. What cities/countries have you lived in?

    I have only lived in Belgarde, Serbia.

  19. If you could live in another country of the 30+ countries where PETOŠEVIĆ operates, which would you pick and why?

    I would pick Montenegro, because it is possible to get from the mountains to the sea very quickly.

  20. If someone came to your city for 24 hours, where would you take them?

    I would take them to a Partizan basketball game, to my favorite restaurant “Durmitor”, and on a boat ride on the Sava river.
