Armenian Registry Suspends Pirate Bay Domain Names

Jul 30 2015 - 17:24

The Internet Society of Armenia has recently suspended domain names “thepiratebay.am” and “piratebay.am”, registered by the torrent site The Pirate Bay, arguing that the domains were registered on behalf of a non-existing organization, the Internet Society website reports.

The Stockholm District Court ruled in May this year that The Pirate Bay should surrender its .SE domains to the Swedish state, arguing that the domains were linked to copyright crimes. According to TorrentFreak, a blog reporting on the latest news on the BitTorrent protocol and file sharing, The Pirate Bay was prepared for the negative outcome and quickly redirected its visitors to six new domain names, GS, LA, VG, AM, MN and GD, some of which are still active.
