<![CDATA[<p>On December 9, 2011, PETOŠEVIĆ Bosnia, in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia, organized a roundtable on intellectual property protection for the local market inspectors and customs officials.</p>
]]><![CDATA[<p>Approximately 60 officials attended the roundtable in Banja Luka, northeastern Bosnia, during which they participated in lectures on IP-related legislative provisions and had a chance to observe samples of counterfeit products.</p>

<p>Representatives from Nike, Procter &amp; Gamble and Japan Tobacco International, all PETOŠEVIĆ clients, prepared presentations on how to spot the differences between genuine and counterfeit products. Dragan Micunovic, who represented PETOŠEVIĆ Bosnia, held a presentation on trademark infringement.</p>

<![CDATA[<p>On October 28, 2011, the INTA Roundtable on The Enforcement of Council Regulation (EC) No 1383/2003 - An Important Tool for Brand Protection, took place in Sofia, Bulgaria.</p>
]]><![CDATA[<p>Iana Roueva of PETOŠEVIĆ and Elena Miller of Bojinov &amp; Bojinov, both members of the INTA Anti-Counterfeiting Committee, organized the roundtable.</p>

<p>Over 40 people attended the roundtable, including the Bulgarian Customs Agency, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Sofia City Court, the Supreme Court of Cassation and a number of Bulgarian law firms.</p>

<p>The roundtable covered various topics, such as the need for implementation of the simplified procedure in Bulgaria, the enforcement problems customs officials face, the consequences of Interpretative Ruling No.1/2008 of the Supreme Court of Cassation that legalized parallel import, and the strategies used by brand owners in the fight against counterfeiting.</p>

<p>The speakers were Kina Chuturkova, partner and attorney at law at Borislav Boyanov &amp; Co, Gergana Cheshmedjieva, a representative of the Bulgarian Customs Agency, Judge Emilia Vassileva, member of the Supreme Court of Cassation, and Zoran Strsoglavec, the brand protection manager at Nike &amp; Converse for the Balkan region.</p>

She also introduced the students to the practical side of practice and discussed the work culture of Eastern Europe and her role as a liaison for PETOŠEVIĆ U.S. clients.  </p>

<![CDATA[<p>On October 7, 2011, PETOŠEVIĆ Macedonia representatives, in cooperation with Procter &amp; Gamble (P&amp;G) and Japan Tobacco International (JTI), held an educational seminar for local customs officials on how to recognize counterfeit products. </p>
]]><![CDATA[<p>Approximately 50 people attended the seminar, which was held at the Customs Administration Office premises in Skopje. P&amp;G and JTI brand managers held presentations on how to recognize counterfeit products bearing their marks. </p>

<p>Customs Administration Director Vanco Kargov also attended the seminar. He welcomed and expressed support for such initiatives, and he reiterated the Customs Administration’s position that there would be zero tolerance for counterfeit products. </p>

<![CDATA[<p>Following the proposal of the Serbian IPO, PETOŠEVIĆ CEO Slobodan Petošević has been appointed as a Serbian representative to the Council of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office, also called the European Patent Institute (EPI). </p>
]]><![CDATA[<p>The EPI represents registered European Patent Attorneys and currently has 10,000 members. The EPI’s governing body is the Council, which is elected once every three years and which comprises registered European Patent Attorneys from all the European Patent Convention contracting states. All members of the Council work voluntarily for the Council.</p>

<p>Slobodan Petošević is one of only two Council representatives from Serbia. He plans on attending the next Council meeting, which will take place in Darmstadt, Germany, on November 5, 2011.</p>

<![CDATA[<p>On June 7, 2011, PETOŠEVIĆ Balkan Regional Office (BRO) representatives, in cooperation with Procter &amp; Gamble (P&amp;G), Nike, H&amp;M and Nokia, held an educational seminar for the local customs and market inspectorate officials on how to recognize counterfeit products.</p>
]]><![CDATA[<p>Approximately 30 officials attended the presentations at the Customs Administration Office in Belgrade, Serbia. P&amp;G and Nike brand managers held presentations on how to recognize counterfeit products bearing their marks, while the PETOŠEVIĆ BRO Director Mihajlo Zatezalo and BRO Associate Ivan Matić held presentations on behalf of H&amp;M and Nokia. </p>

<p>P&amp;G took the initiative in organizing the seminar and PETOŠEVIĆ hopes to organize similar events in the future.</p>
